Okotoks and Area K-9 Schools Boundary Review

To better understand the perception of school capacity concerns, Foothills School Division is engaging with families of its Okotoks and area K-9 schools. The following survey will request your demographic information and will provide facts for your consideration. The survey will conclude with one question pertaining to school boundary configuration. You can anticipate this survey to take five minutes to complete. The intent is to best serve our students and to allow for equity across schools in Okotoks and area, as well as across the division.

December 2023

The Okotoks K-9 Attendance Boundary Review Report of December 2023 has led to a decision to postpone the school reconfiguration to the 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 school year. This decision was made due to several factors:

1. Lower than expected growth at Meadow Ridge School, attributed to a large Grade 9 class graduating and a smaller incoming Kindergarten class.
2. The recent addition of two new classrooms and a modular classroom at Meadow Ridge School, which has temporarily alleviated space constraints.
3. The need to give families and the community sufficient time to plan for these changes.

These factors combined allow for more thorough planning and consultation with the community. The postponement ensures that when changes are implemented, they are done thoughtfully and with the best interest of all students in mind.
